About Michele Reed

As a 16 year old high school student, I was forced to read the classics including Miss Austen’s works.   With Pride and Prejudice tucked between Jane Eyre and The Fountainhead all I could think about was how quickly I could get through the books and off to something a bit more enjoyable, like visiting the dentist.

Fast forward 25 years and I found myself in a hotel room on the East Coast with the Sunday paper and an ad for a video store going out of business.  What better way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon than cruising the video store for something ‘new’ to watch?

Lo and behold on the shelf was a six hour mini-series staring that adorably dimpled man from Bridget Jones Diaries and What a Girl Wants?  How bad could it be with Colin Firth in the lead?   Even if it was that boring book from High School!

I was captivated by the first episode and by the end of the six-hours; I was ready to watch it again.

Monday morning, I dragged myself to the work tired from the late night video show barely making it through the day.   Getting into the car, I wondered if the book was really as boring as I remembered.  A quick check of Google on my phone and I was headed in the direction of the closest Barnes and Noble praying that they had a copy of Pride and Prejudice.

I finished the book that evening and went looking on the internet for the other Jane Austen books.  Boy was I surprised to find Fan Fiction instead!  I read for a couple of years and then on the radio I heard an old 80’s song and thought….  Wow, that would make a great story.  The rest is history!
